On July 12, 2026, Kuwait's Ministry of Defense announced that three northern border posts and an offshore oil rig were targeted in hostile attacks. An offshore drilling platform belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company was hit by a hostile drone, causing material damage and one injury. The border posts also sustained damage. The armed forces have been placed on high alert.

The official spokesman, Colonel Staff Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, issued Statement No. (70):

"Three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to a sinful aggressive attack, resulting in material damage. Also, one of the offshore drilling platforms belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters was targeted."
