A post by @manniefabian, reposted by Sh1n, reported that one person was killed in an apparent unexploded ordnance blast in the Ramim Ridge area of northern Israel, near the border with Lebanon, according to Magen David Adom.
Another 19 people were injured, including two in serious condition and three in moderate condition. The casualties were schoolchildren and teachers hiking near the Pe’er observation point.
Police sappers were operating at the scene to investigate the explosion. The source of the ordnance remained under review.
The Israeli military also deployed sappers from the elite Yahalom Combat Engineering unit to search for other possible unexploded ordnance. Medics and three Israeli Air Force helicopters were sent to evacuate the wounded.
