Shin (@hey_itsmyturn) said confusion surrounding circulating images said to show an RSAF F-15 stems partly from an incorrect Persian calendar conversion.

According to Shin, some translated Persian websites render 25 Shahrivar 1405 as a date in 2021 because Google Translate incorrectly converts Hijri Shamsi dates to the Gregorian calendar. Shin recommended checking the date with taghvim.com or using an original Persian screenshot for conversion.

Shin wrote:

I'm not in a position to confirm those images of the wreckage officially, yet, the RSAF 5539 was DOWNED.

Shin further claimed that error-level analysis and other forensic checks indicated that the image had not been altered, showed no signature of LLM-based generation and was not an old image, suggesting TinEye as an additional check.

In a follow-up post, Shin corrected “LLA” in the original post to “ELA.”
