Sh1n reposted a report from Iran International stating that Amirhossein Maleki, a 20-year-old protester, was hanged in Isfahan on Tuesday alongside Amirhossein Ebrahimi.

A source told Iran International that Maleki had previously been blindfolded, given a noose and subjected to a mock execution in which a chair was kicked from under him after he retracted a confession that he said had been extracted through torture.

Maleki and Ebrahimi were among 12 defendants sentenced to death in the Alikhani Square case over protests in Isfahan on January 8. Iran’s judiciary-affiliated Mizan news agency said the two had participated in attacks that killed four police officers.

According to Iran International’s source, security forces initially tortured Maleki into making statements against another defendant, Alireza Sepahi, who was executed on October 5. Maleki was later held at the Soroush detention center, which is operated by Isfahan’s provincial police.

The executions of Maleki and Ebrahimi brought the number of people put to death in the case to nine. UN experts and rights groups have said the trials relied on forced confessions and denied defendants meaningful access to lawyers.
