Iran International reported that an Iranian court sentenced political prisoner and social media activist Amirhossein Mousavi to death. His lawyer, Reza Shafakhah, said Wednesday on X that Mousavi was convicted on charges of:
corruption on earth through online activities
Mousavi's case was heard in August by Branch 15 of Tehran's Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati.
Mousavi has been detained since December 2024. In October 2025, Iranian state television broadcast what was described as his forced confession following months of solitary confinement.
Fourteen political prisoners had previously issued a statement warning that Mousavi was at risk of receiving a death sentence.
The report was reposted by Sh1n (@hey_itsmyturn) from Iran International English (@IranIntl_En).
