Earlier that day, the rate was reported at 2,186,000 rials, or 218,600 tomans, also described as a record and an all-time low for the Iranian currency.

That update quoted an August 23 post documenting the rial's previous decline:

It's at 199,400 tomans at the moment (which is a new low for Iranian currency)
