The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a security alert on October 10, 2026, concerning attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The U.S. Mission stated:

The U.S. Mission is aware of attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10 and strongly recommends all U.S. citizens avoid this airport and surrounding areas.

U.S. citizens were warned of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions. The Mission recommended checking departure information directly with airlines and the airport.

U.S. government employees working in Saudi Arabia require special authorization to use King Khalid International Airport. They are also prohibited from traveling within 20 miles of the Yemen border because of safety risks and require special authorization to travel to the provinces of Jizan, Asir, and Najran, as well as the cities of Qatif, Yanbu, and Taif.
