Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service (CTS), Special Forces, and Army units are carrying out coordinated raids across the Green Zone, Karkh, and Rusafa to prevent suspects from fleeing. The operation is based on confessions from detained former Deputy Oil Minister Adnan al-Jumaili.
Targets and arrests:
- 12 current MPs (including Hussein Mo'nis of Kata'ib Hezbollah, Bahaa al-Nouri, and members of the Azm Alliance)
- Ali Ma'arij (Former Deputy Oil Minister, recently US-sanctioned)
- Mohammed al-Sayhoud (Former MP)
- Multiple former officials and political figures
Seized assets to date:
- 98 billion+ IQD & $11 million USD in cash (portions found buried 4 meters underground on farms)
- 70 residential and commercial properties frozen
- 21 modern vehicles & ~3kg of gold
- 70–85 firearms + 300–400 magazines and ammunition crates
Parliamentary immunity was lifted during the legislative recess to authorize the judicial warrants. Prime Minister Ali Falih Kadhim al-Zaidi stated the government will pursue all cases regardless of rank or political affiliation.
