Flight timing and reused photographs undermine a claim that the Sudanese Air Force captured UAE Air Force aircraft 1227 after it entered Sudanese airspace.

Sudanese Air Force captured #UAE cargo plane that entered Sudanese airspace.

Shin disputed the claim, noting that UAE Air Force aircraft 1227 was over Oman at approximately 2112Z, while the first reports of a UAE aircraft being "captured" appeared at approximately 2254Z. The interval was 1 hour and 42 minutes, which Shin said was insufficient for the aircraft to fly from the UAE to Sudan.

Shin also said the circulated image of 1227—with its engine plugs installed—and the accompanying Il-76TD images were old.
