Sh1n reposted an Iran International report stating that the Islamic Republic has begun asking citizens to identify and report opponents living abroad through an intelligence-gathering platform called Alaj.
The name Alaj means “remedy” or “cure” in Persian. The platform accepts information through its website, a Telegram bot and Iran’s Bale messaging service.
The Guards-affiliated Fars News Agency said when announcing the project on Monday:
“Alaj operates with the aim of safeguarding national security against anti-Iranian currents.”
Iranian state television also promoted Alaj, giving wider exposure to a system that Iranian media had previously discussed but had not promoted on the same scale.
According to figures publicized by Iranian state media, Alaj says it has identified and monitored 1,600 people, including 600 identified through reports submitted by members of the public.
The initiative drew ridicule from social media users who questioned the platform’s security and mocked the state’s own vulnerability to infiltration.
