A post by @IsraelWarRoom, reposted by @hey_itsmyturn and citing The Wall Street Journal, says Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are urging the Trump administration to maintain economic pressure on Iran and reject concessions that would ease U.S. sanctions or the naval blockade.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly told U.S. officials that the blockade should remain until Iran is compelled to sign a new agreement.

The position represents a shift from earlier in the war, when Gulf states led by Saudi Arabia pushed for negotiations and were willing to consider an agreement recognizing some Iranian influence over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, Iranian attacks on Saudi shipping and renewed Houthi pressure on the Kingdom’s Red Sea route have since hardened Riyadh’s position.

Oman and Qatar continue to advocate negotiations and a phased reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
