The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Khatam Al Anbya headquarters issued a statement on June 10, 2026, declaring the immediate closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The statement cited 'insecurity in the region' and blamed 'malicious actions of America' and attacks by its military on southern Hormozgan province.
The IRGC warned:
"Following the malicious actions of America and in light of the commencement of attacks by its aggressor military on some southern areas in Hormozgan province, effective immediately, due to insecurity in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed for the passage of all types of vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. Any transit will be targeted."
The IRGC also explicitly denied any American claim regarding the passage of ships through the strait.
