The IRGC claimed it intercepted, grounded and took possession of two American MQM-170s over southern Qeshm in Iran’s Hormozgan Province.
The claim followed a quoted post in which Shin described the IRGC as a “terror organization” and relayed its announcement:
“Moments ago, IRGC Aerospace Force’s new advanced air defense system, under the country’s integrated air defense network, intercepted and destroyed the 55th advanced MQ[-]9 drone over east of the Strait of Hormuz”
IranShin reported that sounds heard in Tehran were thunder, not blasts.
IranAir defense activity was reported at the air base in Omidiyeh, Khuzestan, Iran.
IranPresident Donald J. Trump said oil prices had fallen by almost $10 per barrel amid expectations that war with Iran could be avoided and a settlement reached.
