Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah rejected a U.S. ceasefire proposal on Monday, stating that the group would not accept a cessation of operations solely in exchange for Israel refraining from bombing Beirut's southern suburbs. The proposal was reportedly conveyed through intermediaries.
Fadlallah said:
We reject the American proposal, received hours ago through intermediaries, which stipulates a cessation of Hezbollah operations in exchange for Israel not bombing the southern suburbs.
Our steadfast position is that any comprehensive ceasefire, as a pathway for the enemy's withdrawal from our land, must be part of the solution.
A complete ceasefire, no return to the pre-March 2nd status quo, and no such thing as 'freedom of movement for Israel'.
The statement was circulated on Hezbollah-affiliated Telegram channels.
The rejection came after U.S. President Donald Trump commented on a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating:
I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back. Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with
