The Israel Defense Forces announced that four commanders in Hamas's elite Nukhba Force were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City yesterday (August 18).

Palestinian media reported the strike hit a cafe near the city's port, killing six people and wounding 14.

The IDF confirmed the strike eliminated four Nukhba Force commanders from Hamas's Beit Lahia Battalion:

  • Muhammad Hamdi Ahmed al-Masri, company commander
  • Samad Samir Harb Abu Jabal, platoon commander who infiltrated Israel during the October 7 onslaught
  • Muhammad Attar, platoon commander
  • Muhammad Fathi Hussein Nasser, platoon commander

The military said the operatives were involved in advancing attacks on troops, adding:

"The commanders' activities posed a threat to IDF troops, and they were therefore eliminated in an aerial strike to remove the threat."
