Following an IRGC threat to sink approaching U.S. warships, U.S. Central Command said American forces and regional partners control the Strait of Hormuz. The post reported that more than 19 million barrels transited the strait the previous day with U.S. assistance.
CENTCOM described the Iranian commander's claim as follows:
CLAIM: The navy commander for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed today that the Strait of Hormuz is under IRGC control and any approaching U.S. Navy warships would be "sunk."
CENTCOM responded:
FACT: IRGC's navy commander has no navy.
