The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that a strike on Sunday in the Gaza City area eliminated Youssef Aqila, identified in an earlier report as Yusif Aqila (Abu Al Walid), a commander in Hamas’s Qassam Brigades.

IDF eliminates Hamas Nukhba commander after immediate threat

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a strike yesterday (Sunday) in the Gaza City area, eliminating terrorist Youssef Aqila, a Nukhba commander in Hamas’s military wing.

Over the recent period, Aqila advanced terrorist plots against IDF troops and Israeli citizens, and worked to rebuild the organization's capabilities in a systematic violation of the ceasefire. He was eliminated to remove the threat.

Prior to the strike, measures were taken to minimize the potential for civilian casualties, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
IDF forces in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to neutralize any immediate threats.
