U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) refuted the IRGC’s claim that international mariners must use only IRGC-preferred routes in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the strait is an international waterway and the IRGC has no authority to dictate traffic. CENTCOM also noted that since early May, its forces have helped approximately 1,000 vessels and 500 million barrels of crude oil transit.
