On August 8, 2026, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced enforcement actions in the ongoing blockade against Iran.

CENTCOM: As of Aug. 8, U.S. Navy has rerouted 53 commercial vessels, disabled 2, and boarded 2 enforcing blockade against Iran. Over 30 ships permitted for humanitarian aid.

Centcom also highlighted that sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) conducted maintenance on F/A-18E Super Hornets to ensure the carrier strike group remains mission ready.
