On Sunday, August 16, 2026, open-source intelligence account @DefenceGeek reported an unusually high number of U.S. Air Force tanker movements, noting that the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran is set to expire the next day. The post, retweeted by Sh1n, listed the following flights:

A rather large number of US tanker aircraft have moved around today in/out of CENTCOM and back to CONUS - somewhat unusual for a Sunday but then the MoU with Iran does expire tomorrow... 🤔
